(5) Randall: After frantically escaping the collapsing castle and dragging the unconscious party members into the open the Paladin confronts you, asking for an explanation.
(3) Lae'nial: Explain what?
(5) Randall: "I appreciate your help, but I wonder why Elves would help humans?"
(3) Lae'nial: Because they are in need of help? * Confused
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Are we going to all talk at once, or have a designated speaker, or what?
(5) Randall: OC: you can interject if you wish.
** (6) Shaorin looks mildly confused **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "I saw no need for some evil deity or another to get yet another innocent sacrifice.
(5) Randall: the paladin is puzzled by your reply "I find it hard to believe Elves would willingly come to a humans help" (OC: ok perhaps we'd better take it in turns)
(5) Randall: oc: next reply coming
(3) Lae'nial: Int check: [1d20+4] -> [12,4] = (16)
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Hmm, would that be good enough to figure out that maybe we are not in kansas anymore?
(5) Randall: Paladin " your intentions are admirable, and I thank you. Perhaps we need discuss things" he takes his hands off his sword
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Should probably wait for the DM to request such checks.
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: I felt it was appropriate, as Lae'nial would naturally try to figure out where we are.
(5) Randall: Paladin "What then are Elves, a dwarf, a human, and I don't know what, doing here let alone together"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Where, exactly, is here?"
(6) Shaorin: I don't know
(5) Randall: the little girl grabs onto the Paladins leg and stares at the elves.
(3) Lae'nial: We seem to have undergone some sort of transportation spell.
(6) Shaorin: I was meditating alone and suddenly found myself in a dark room with these others
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: What sort of stare is coming from the little girl?
(5) Randall: "You were transported here?. and you don't know where you are. You are a long way from your realm"
(5) Randall: OC: the little girl is a bit fearful of you
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: You people give out too much information to unknown strangers...
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Who, might I ask, are you, exactly?
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: He's a paladin. Surely a paladin can be trusted. (Naive? A bit)
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: He is a figure in armor with a sword. Possibly a Cleric due to turning. No actual indication of being a Paladin...
(5) Randall: "I am Homus Dranus, a Paladin of Huhm, and these" he says, indicating the guards "are my companions. Who are you then?"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: But back to the IC
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: A good cleric if he turned undead.
whispering to Lae'nial, Or neutral.
** (3) Lae'nial bows. 'Lae'nial, student of knowledge.' **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Humm... never heard of Huhm. I go by Sulimo Mandrallorn."
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: I see figures. Is the defecation about to hit the rotating air circulator?
(5) Randall: OC: no I put them on before, the fact you didn't KNOW he was a paladin told me you couldn't see them
(6) Shaorin (exit): 18:57
(8) Shaorin (enter): 18:57
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: No, I was avoiding using out of game knowledge in game. Just because you called an icon Paladin doesnt mean my PC would know he is a paladin.
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Which I forgot. But I did not see them anyway, so all is well, since I see them now.
(5) Randall: "So Sulimo Mandrallorn, you have never heard of Huhm?. Tell me who is your king?"
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Forgot that Lae'nial didn't know he was a paladin.
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Who is our king anyway?
(5) Randall: OC: you are right Sulimo, I cede to you
(5) Randall: OC: apart from fact that evil cleric called him apaladin :)
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Forgot. Still don't remember.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "I pay hommage to no king."
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Name of our king?
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Or the local ruler or something? Or am I supposed to make somthing up?
(5) Randall: make intel checks
(8) Shaorin: Int check: [1d20+4] -> [6,4] = (10)
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Int check: [1d20+2] -> [19,2] = (21)
(3) Lae'nial: Int check: [1d20+4] -> [13,4] = (17)
(5) Randall: Sulimo and Lae'nial realise he is fishing for information
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn was aware of that... hence comment about giving too much info. **
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: So do I make something up for the local ruler where my character grew up?
(5) Randall: OC: I would think it natural for you to name your king (you can just make something up)
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "You play a dangerous game, Homus. We just saved your hide, and you are now interrogating us."
(3) Lae'nial: That was impolite.
(5) Randall: " I apologise Sulimo Mandrallorn if i caused offense, I merely wonder where you hail from. You appear, at least from what you say, to be a mystery"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "And so it shall remain. Perhaps we should move to a more secure location, lest another group of skeletons besets us?"
(5) Randall: "If I may ask, at risk of causing further offense, what land would you think yourself in"
(5) Randall: "Very well, my horse and thosae of my companions both present and lost to us, are close by"
(3) Lae'nial: I am unsure.
(3) Lae'nial: If you tell us what land we are in, I will tell you what land we came from.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "This land is unknown to me."
(8) Shaorin: and to me
whispering to No Name, hello
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn examines the surroundings **
(5) Randall: Leading you into the trees, towards a group of tied up horses, Homus speaks "You are in the kingdom of Rad"
(5) Randall: "We are in the northern provice, it is your distance from the elven Realm that has me puzzled"
** (3) Lae'nial tells him what kingdom we are from. **
(3) Lae'nial: Elven Ream? We must be on another continent!
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn elbows Lae'nial and casts him a disheartening glance **
(5) Randall: "You are elves yet you don't know where the ELven Realm is?"
** (3) Lae'nial decides to not exclaim so much. Sulimo is better at negotiation. **
(5) Randall: Lae'nial told Homus that you come from Oerth
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Of course we do. My friend here is just a little daft. Where, precisely, are you headed?"
(5) Randall: "Oerth?, I've never heard of that land. As for where I am going, I must return small Alas here" he says indicating the girl "to her family"
(5) Randall: you all note Homus reference to Oerth as a land, even though you know Oerth is not a kingdom but your world"
(5) Randall: OC: i tried whisper to Oerth group but it didn't work
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Who was the dark cleric we dispatched?"
(3) Lae'nial: * Whispers to Sulimo: There seems to be some local tension between humans and elves here. Perhaps it would be best if we waited to accompany them until after they return her.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Did you select the players in the group?
** (8) Shaorin wonders where Oerth is that neither he nor Homus know about it **
(5) Randall: OC: yep, it ried toggling them to wihisper group. Its not a problem really, just that Shaorin doesn't know Oerth, as he just said
whispering to Lae'nial, Randall, test
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Did you select Whisper or Whisper to group? And did htat whisper go out to Lae'nial and Randall?
(5) Randall: "You seem unsure of where you are. Would you be willing to come with me once I return Alas"
(8) Shaorin: yes
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Test worked.
(5) Randall: OC: oi got your whisper sulimo.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "That would be agreeable."
(5) Randall: OC: oi vey
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: The syntax seems to be this, where 3 and 5 are the player numbers: /w 3,5=message
(5) Randall: "The Dark Cleric?. He was Uthik Nam, a Cleric of the Lich Lord. I was trying to stop him sacrificing young Alas for whatever rdark reason he had. IYour arrival was most timely"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Timely indeed."
(5) Randall: OC: I didn't notice the whisper to group choice after setting the group
(5) Randall: by this time the others who were knocked out have awoke and followed the conversation.
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Did you get the whisper test I sent, Randall?
(5) Randall: OC: oh yeah, sorry, yes i did
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Yipee, it worked.
(5) Randall: "I assume you will be able to ride our horses?"
(8) Shaorin: not very well, but yes
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "The dwarf might have trouble, but yes."
(3) Lae'nial: It would be an...interesting new experience.
(5) Randall: there are a number of horses, whose owners are no longer present, you each choose one. Draknor stands knee high to the horse and stares up grumbling
(5) Randall: OC: does one of you want to play Draknor
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: I cant spar with myself... Narf?
(5) Randall: Homus turns to Shaorin " I did not get your name sir"
(8) Shaorin: Sorry, I am Shaorin
(3) Lae'nial: To Draknor: Perhaps a mounting...ladder?
(3) Lae'nial: Draknor to Lae'nial: Ah, shutup.
(5) Randall: "Are you also from this kingdom of Oerth I hear of?"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Sulimo says to Draknor, "Ale will not solve this problem for you dwarf."
(8) Shaorin: I have never heard of Oerth before today
(3) Lae'nial: * A few minutes later, Grull 'helps'(Tosses) Draknor up, much to the dwarves suprise and consternation.
(5) Randall: "So you are not with this group?"
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn eyes Homus and Shaorin warily **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Shall we be off?"
(8) Shaorin: not originally, but I have no objections to joining them
** (3) Lae'nial eyes a snake warily, then realises it's only a harmless one. **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "I am sure that teh girl is eager to return to her parents."
(8) Shaorin: at least, not yet
(3) Lae'nial: Gee, thanks.
(5) Randall: AS you ride off down the path leading to the Castle ruins you all notice the Paladin and his guards casting furitive looks at Grull
(5) Randall: phone sorry
(5) Randall: just a minute
(8) Shaorin: hey, I hardly know you
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "And we you." Suspicions raise.
(3) Lae'nial: Yeah, but did you >have< to include a qualifier?
(3) Lae'nial: * to include a qualifier
(8) Shaorin: I guess not
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn eyes Lae'nial warily so that he does not feel left out. **
(5) Randall: OC: I'm afraid I don't understand the current conversation.
** (3) Lae'nial looks confused. Why is Sulimo(Who, by DM fiat, grew up in the same village) eyeing him warily? **
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: What don't you understand about the current conversation?
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC It is irrelevant banter. Lets move on. ;)
(5) Randall: you ride along for some time until you approach a small village
(5) Randall: the little girl, Alas, sits behind the Paladin on his warhorse, holding on tight and staring fearfully at the ELves
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn puts on the hood of his cloak to hide his elven features... **
** (8) Shaorin wonders what elves did in this part of the world to deserve such fear **
** (3) Lae'nial pulls on his hood to copy Sulimo. **
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn suggests to all over elves and half-elves in the party that they should put on hoods as well **
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: All other elves and half-elves hide der ears.
(3) Lae'nial: Whisper to other elves and half-elves: Perhaps we should wait out side the village?
(5) Randall: You ride into the village. A small group of Villagers stand in the village square. As you ride up a woman runs crying towards the Paladin. "Allas,Alas, my baby"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Too late. ;)
(5) Randall: Als crys out "Mommy!"
(5) Randall: The woman pulls her dughter off the horse and holds her to her
(5) Randall: Homus speaks up "As I promised I have returned your daughter to you"
(5) Randall: "Thankyou, thankyou" the woman cries holding back tears
(5) Randall: Alas looks at the elves "Mommy, Mommy, I've been a good girl, don't let the elves get me"
(5) Randall: "Silence Alas, there are no elves around her"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Elves? What elves? THis girl has undergone a tremendous shock."
(5) Randall: "Fear not lady, I and my companions" he says glancing at the party" have vanquished your daughters abductors"
(5) Randall: "Thankyou" cries the mother " how can I thank you"
(5) Randall: "Fear not" says the PAladin " your daughters safety is enough"
(5) Randall: A large man walks up and hugs the girl. He turns to the Paladin. "Thankyou for saving my daughter, will you saty for dinner"
(5) Randall: "I would love to accept your hospitality, but It is a long journey for me and my companions to the city"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: On and off as I make dinner.
(5) Randall: says the paladin
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn suspects that it would be rude to dine wearing a cloak. **
** (3) Lae'nial suspects it might be a good idea to have as little contact with the local humans as possible. **
(5) Randall: some of the villagers cast glances at the hooded elves, but quickly return to the calebration of the girls return
(5) Randall: Accepting the villagers thanks, the Paladin turns and leads the party off
(5) Randall: The moment over you finally get a look at this world you find yourself in. The sky is overcast and dark. Light rain is falling and there is a chill to the air.
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: So, in other words, we're in england? :D
(5) Randall: OC: not necessarily England we have the same weather here
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: * If it was heavy rain, we'd be in BC.
** (8) Shaorin ignores the cold and rain **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Definitely not southern California ;)
** (3) Lae'nial decides not to try to study his spellbook on a horse, with people who seem suspicious of him and in the rain. **
(8) Shaorin: so, where are we going?
(5) Randall: Homus speaks up "I will take you to Magnos, my superiors will perhaps be able to help you"
(8) Shaorin: how far is Magnos?
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Why were the villagers so suspicious of elves, as you yourself seem to be?"
(5) Randall: A few days ride at the least. It will depend on how the weather holds up.It might take longer if the weather turns bad
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Nobody seems to want to comment on my updated 3d head.
(5) Randall: "Why are we afraid of elves?"
(5) Randall: OC: what 3d head
(5) Randall: "Many hundreds of years ago we humans and the Elves lived as neighbours. ALthough we did not mix freely with them or have much contact we at least did not percieve them as a threat. Then gradually the ELves started to make demands of us. The ELves were not our masters so we refused to be commanded by them. SLowly though they extended their grip on the surrounding realms. Our lives being so short compared to theirs we did not see the threat but over many generations the Elves grew stronger and stronger until one day we awoke to find that the ELves had reached the position of control over man. Humans resisted but the Elves grip was so strong and their magic so overpowering that the human resistance was futile. For the next 200 years humanity became the vassals of the Elves, the commandments from their deep forests ruling human life. Then one day a man arose, the man Rad who would become a god, raising a resistance against the Elves he and others eager to throw off the Elven domination lead humans to fight the elves. The resistance had secretly gathered information on the elves and human wizards and the clerics of Huhm studied in secret so as to gain magic power like the elves. The Elves, in their arrogance, believing that man was subservient were not prepared to put down the uprising and Rad himself slew the Elven king when he took the old capital. The elves fled into the forest and have ever since plotted to destroy the kingdom created by Rad. We humans though keep watch on their forest and are prepared for whenever they emerge to attack us again. So it has been for 300 years".
(5) Randall: OC: oh my prepared text :)
(8) Shaorin: I must be very far from home indeed for such history to be unkown in my land
** (3) Lae'nial faints. **
(3) Lae'nial: * Really.
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn hopes that Lae'nial does not become trampled.. **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "That is most unfortunate."
(5) Randall: Homus speaks" there are some who wish to forgive the elves and some, unfortuantely, who find it hard to forgive. The ELves, sorry the ELves of the their realm, ahave long lives and still feel bitter though"
(5) Randall: OC: sorry, i'm typing badly
(5) Randall: "As you heard, mothers tend to tell their children horror stories about Elves making off with naughty children into the forests"
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Lae'nial really is lying there in the readway, unconcious.
(3) Lae'nial: * Roadway.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Grull turns back and picks Lae'nial up, then ties him to the back of a horse.
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: (On the horse...)
(5) Randall: Homus pulls up his horse and turns "what is wrong with your friend, is he alright?"
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "That one is rather fickle..."
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn splashes water on Lae'nial's face **
(3) Lae'nial: 'Huh? What?'
(5) Randall: IT gradually turns darker
(3) Lae'nial: 'What happened?'
(5) Randall: OC: for some reason the cut and paste won't work anymore
(3) Lae'nial: 'Did I faint?'
(5) Randall: After hours of travel you emerge into a shaded clearing. Homus looks around and then peers into the darkening sky. "I think we should camp here for the night" he says
(8) Shaorin: agreed
(5) Randall: OC: sorry. We'll deal with Lae'Nial first
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: Need to finish making dinner.. back in a few minutes
(5) Randall: Well If sulimo needs to make and have dinner, and I think the others need to be here we can stop here
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Ok.
(5) Randall: I am becoming concerned that we have so few players each session
(8) Shaorin: OOC: what about the still-unopened box?
(8) Shaorin: OOC: *chest
(5) Randall: OC: oh right the box, yes you can try to open it
(5) Randall: Cyclops gave me the list I'll just try to find it
(8) Shaorin: OOC: just as soon as Sulimo asks me
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: I'll try to remember the session better.
(5) Randall: OC: thats ok, I'm glad you amde this one, we just needed all the elves to be here
(5) Randall: Oc: i'll just go "mediatate" while you wait for sulimo
(7) No Name: Disconnecting from server...
(7) No Name (exit): 20:13
(9) Zane (enter): 20:13
(9) Zane: Going, going, gone....
(9) Zane (exit): 20:14
(5) Randall: OC: i'm back
(5) Randall: OC: maybe next time I'll bother to put a password. Do you all know our password
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC back
(8) Shaorin: OOC: yes
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: "Shaorin, would you care to open this shiney box?"
(8) Shaorin: OOC: I expected you to ask Lae'nial first
(8) Shaorin: sure
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Think it's either ace or seiv?
(8) Shaorin: Shaorin Trannyth uses Knock ( level 2, "Opens locked or psionically sealed door." )
(5) Randall: just a minute
(5) Randall: sorry, one of the chest contents was innapropriate
(8) Shaorin: OOC: in what way?
(5) Randall: within the chest you find, a parchment, a wand and a bunch of red berries
(5) Randall: OC: I felt that the Paladin would confiscate it
(8) Shaorin: OOC: what's on the parchment?
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Well naturally this would not be opened in front of him, but rahter in a tent...
(5) Randall: OC: very well, I'll go with what Cyclops wrote, but It might lead to something
(8) Shaorin: Shaorin Trannyth uses Detect Psionics ( level 1, "You detect the presence of psionics." )
(8) Shaorin: which of the items in the chest are magical, and how powerful are they?
(3) Lae'nial: 'I wonder what kind of wand that is?'
(5) Randall: OC: shaorin, do you want to treat that as a detect magic as we sdiscussed before?
(8) Shaorin: OOC: yes
(5) Randall: OC: very well
(5) Randall: OC: I am giving Shaorin the info
(8) Shaorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = (11)
(8) Shaorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [5,10] = (15)
(8) Shaorin: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+10] -> [18,10] = (28)
(5) Randall: the berries have a faint transmutation aura, the wand also has a faint aura of divination,
(5) Randall: OC: damn, oh well
(5) Randall: I'll be honest. I didn't prepare to give mysterious info on items. I'll post on the forums more detailed info
(8) Shaorin: I would identify them fully, but I don't think we have that much time available atm in game
(8) Shaorin: hmm, perhaps you could make some sense of this Lae'nial (hands him the scroll)
(8) Shaorin: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [17,12] = (29)
(5) Randall: just a sec
(8) Shaorin: the wand has some minor divination magic
(3) Lae'nial: Knowledge: Arcana Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [20,12] = (32)
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: :D
(5) Randall: I believe ARCANA will tell you what sort of item they are, obviously wands and scrolls. You need to cast read magic
(8) Shaorin: I believe the berries are probably under the aeffect of a goodberry spell
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Isnt spellcraft use for identifying items?
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Not Knowledge?
(3) Lae'nial: Spellcraft Skill Check: [1d20+12] -> [11,12] = (23)
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: And it has to be in conjunction with read magic...
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Or some such spell...
(5) Randall: no read magic or spellcraft
(8) Shaorin: OOC: My knowledge check was to see if my character would think of Goodberry
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Is identify still around?
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: OOC: There could be any number of magical berries...
(8) Shaorin: OOC: yes, but I need a full day to use it
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Knowledge Arcana (ancient mysteries, magic traditions, arcane symbols, cryptic phrases, constructs, dragons, magical beasts)
(3) Lae'nial: OOC: Did my spellcraft check work?
(3) Lae'nial: Lae'nial casts Read Magic ( level 0, "Read scrolls and spellbooks." )
(8) Shaorin: so, we have a scroll, a wand of some minor divination spell, and 11 goodberries
** (8) Shaorin shows no sign of startlement when the chest suddenly snaps shut, once again securely locked **
(5) Randall: luckily you ahd taken all the items out to examine them
** (1) Sulimo Mandrallorn has Shaorin open the chest again, then throws all of Draknor's ale in it. muahahahah j/k **
(3) Lae'nial: 11 goodberries, a wand of true strike, and a scroll with animate dead, passwall, teleport and cone of cold.
(8) Shaorin: wow, that's a powerful scroll
(3) Lae'nial: How shall we divide that?
(3) Lae'nial: The scroll would be of little use to anyone else but me.
(8) Shaorin: I wouldn't let Homus see the animate dead part of it, though
(5) Randall: OC: my point
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: Homus cant read magic scrolls...
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: *arcane
** (3) Lae'nial spends the rest of the night copying his scrolls into his spellbook. **
(1) Sulimo Mandrallorn: This would naturally come out of your share of the treasure from the last adventure...
** (3) Lae'nial nods and keeps on copying. **
